PRODUCTION PROCESSES

Design

Guglielmi products are born from ideas, wit and mastery of our Team. Every single production cycle is checked and analyzed in detail. In the design and planning phase, the style office analyzes both shapes and materials the tap will be manufactured with. In the technical office the product is engineered through the use of 3D software.

Prototyping

It consists of the creation of prototypes printed in different ABS plastic materials thanks to a proper 3D printer. This passage allows to check their shapes and ergonomics. Once approved, the product can be industrially manufactured.

Core and shells creation

During this phase the raw bodies of our taps are obtained by carrying out all the related activities.

The process concerns the creation of so-called cores that will be used to get the holes in the fusion, that are the parts that must not be filled by the liquid metal (cast brass). The cores are made of earth and sand mixed with agglomerates obtained by a negative mold called core box.

FOUNDRY, CASTING PROCESS

The molten metal (1000°) is stripped from the oven, collected in a ladle and poured into the mold through the casting channel. Once solidified and cooled, we extract our raw tap from the mold and with a vibration process the core crumbles into sand to get the channels where water will flow.

Molding

It is an alternative process to the foundry. Through the hot pressing of the brass there are lower application costs and some typical defects of the castings are totally eliminated such as, for example, porosity.

Transfer turnery

Industrial production process, for different mechanical machining, obtained by chip removal. Turnery is defined by a rotary piece motion and a mostly straight tool movement (in milling and drilling the tool has instead a rotary motion).

NUMERICAL CONTROL turnery

Bar turning represents a subtype of the one with numerical control or cnc, a mechanical processing type that uses comuputerized systems for the management of production processes.

Cleaning / Frosting

Metal working processes that prepare the activities for real metal work such as nickel plating, chrome plating and gilding. This result is obtained by means of very fine and uniform abrasives that reduce the sizes of the surface roughness.

Polishing

Purpose of the polishing process is to file the microscopic irregularities of the body so as to make the treated surfaces as smooth as possible, so that the light reflection becomes more uniform.

Chrome-plating

Chrome-plating involves the immersion of the tap body to be chromed in a series of basins. In a first series of these ones the piece is degreased and cleaned. The main basin (where the piece stays longer) is that of the electrolytic nickel solution. Before carrying chrome, it is crucial to create a layer of nickel to uniform the metal surface as microscopically as possible. After a further washing, it takes place the immersion in the basin of the electrolytic chrome solution.

Galvanic finishes

This is a chrome coating on a polished product by means of electroplating. Our faucets are ready to get the prestigious finish you prefer (chrome, satin brushed stainless steel copper, brushed nickel, bronze, rose gold, satin rose gold, gold, brushed gold, black nickel, brushed black nickel).

Painting

The painting consists in fixing a layer of color on the previously treated product defining the color features, the brilliance or opacity. It is baked in the oven (180°) so as to give the product uniformity and durability over time.

PVD

It is a thin film metal deposit. The deposition process takes place vacuum-packed by evaporating the metal to be deposited. The resulting film has high chemical-physical performances, being very resistant to scratching, corrosion and abrasion.

Quality control

Taking note of the individual parts that will constitute the entire faucet so that they have no defects, to guarantee quality and resistance to a product aimed at satisfying the end customer.

Duration test

Process consisting in testing the finished product to guarantee performance, reliability and durability over time with reference to the regulation EN 200 and EN 817.

Assembly and testing

Process dedicated to the operations necessary to join the various parts, pre-assembled or individual of the tap.

Packaging

The finished and controlled product equipped with warranty certificate is packaged.

Shipping

The product is ready to be shipped worldwide.
