CAN YOU HEAR MY VO(I)CE?

FUORISALONE 2022

6-13 June 2022 – Cortile d’onore dell’Università Statale di Milano

Regeneration is a word of great significance, understood as rebirth, as radical renewal and «redemption» that takes place in a community, is represented in baptism whose central element is Water.

It is from this union of concepts and elements that the collaboration between Elena Salmistraro, the creator of the project, and Guglielmi was born.

Water, or as the ancient Greeks called it «hydor», recalls the Greek and Roman memory of a mythological monster called Hydra or Hydra, a highly resilient «snake» capable of swimming, emerging from the water and regenerating itself. It was in fact endowed with seven or more heads, which Hercules tried to cut off to kill the monster, but every time a head was cut off, it regenerated, regrowing and thus making the creature an immortal being.

Water, regeneration, dream, reality, change and interaction are the key words that guide the composition of the ornamental fountain LA VOCE DI IDRA created by Elena Salmistraro, who for this occasion abandons her fearful and negative character and becomes a symbol of rebirth.

Fresh, colourful and playful like all Elena Salmistraro’s works, a source of life, generation and regeneration, Guglielmi’s fountain LA VOCE DI IDRA is an element rich in symbolism. An «ancient» work, like the myth it represents, but also «futuristic» like the brand new voice-controlled taps that become part of Guglielmi’s home automation system and are part of the installation: snake tongues that deliver water at the sound of the voice.

For a new concept that wants to combine innovation, design and ease of use.
